Dear Sharra,
From the beginning of the campaign, I've been guided by an idea that I heard years ago: that you should be fully invested in an effort yet unattached to the result.
So many of us have been invested in this effort, and it's time now to decide whether we're really going for the result. For in order to do that, we need an immediate infusion of financial resources. If we cannot make that happen, and immediately, then it's time to close it down.
That's a pretty blunt way to say it, but I'm afraid it's true. From ballot access to voter files and everything else involved in a campaign, the system is set up to make it nearly impossible to play the game unless you play with a huge amount of money.
I've hung in there — and you've hung in there — because the campaign is meaningful. Ours is the only agenda that presents to the American people the option of fundamental economic reform, an actual economic U-turn and a new beginning for the United States.
This isn't a decision that I can make alone; it's a decision we must make together. If you wish to see the campaign continue and be competitive in the primary season, I'm asking you please to give whatever you can, whether it's a dollar or a thousand dollars, and to do it right now.
