I will present ideas, people and projects I think are important for all of us to consider. They are things that inform how I think about the country and the world, giving all of us a chance to learn more about areas in most need of change. They are issues I will address if you make me your President. From labor issues to the environment to military budgets to abortion rights to any other issue that seems important, this is our chance to initiate America's season of repair.
In order for the United States to have a new beginning, we need to deal with the economic turbulence faced by so many in our country these days. We're living in a second Gilded Age right now. Far too often, corporate forces earn tremendous amounts of money, accruing huge amounts of power, at the expense and through the exploitation of the average American worker.
So let's start with that. Economic anxiety is now a feature, not a bug, of the American experience.
Today, as was true in response to America's first Gilded Age, organized labor is a large part of the solution. From Amazon to Starbucks and beyond, a revitalized labor movement is pushing back against unfair employment practices all over the country.
Our first Firelight Chat will explore what's happening with the Writer's Strike. The situation is a perfect embodiment of a great American drama: economic injustice toward Americans whose work deserves dignity and security, and their righteous pushback through unionized activity. The Writers Strike is a story within a story, and who better to tell it than storytellers themselves.
Join me and my guests to discuss what's happening with the Writer's Strike and why it matters for all of us.
Remember. And spread the word! Firelight Chats. Every Wednesday and Sunday beginning June 7th at 6pm ET / 3pm PT on the Marianne 2024 official social media channels. Be sure to follow to get reminders!
