I am genuinely shaken by reports today that the President does not intend to stand down as our presumptive nominee.
Millions of Americans feel extremely vulnerable to threats posed by Trump's policies over the next four years, and almost incredulous that the President believes he can win in November.
There is clearly a high level war now being waged at the upper echelons of the Democratic Party, with two competing views of what should occur going forward. Unless delegates decide to override his choice, the decision is indeed in President Biden's hands.
I've never thought it meant too much when someone said "We're carefully monitoring the situation," but in this case all I can say is that that's exactly what we're doing. Regardless what the President decides, my decision on what I should do rests on the sincere belief that if we do not have another Democratic nominee in November then I don't believe we will win. |
We will lobby thousands of delegates if we have to, but I can assure you we will take a stand.
With our campaign there is another option, a better way, and a candidate who can beat Trump in November.
We answer Trump's offer of false hope with real hope.
We answer Trump's sales talk about "the forgotten man" that's accompanied by no policy prescriptions to help that man at all, with an agenda that offers health care, education, affordable housing, a living wage, a way to peace creation, care of the earth and plans for ending the scourge of addiction.
We will answer Trump's bogus call to "Fight!" with a heartfelt call to stop fighting.
And that's how we will win.
