Poll after poll shows that this country is moving in the wrong direction. The people sense it, and the people are correct.
This shouldn't be a controversial statement in a country where 39% of Americans (and 44% of Millennials) report skipping meals to afford their rent.
In the richest country in the world, we should not have 600,000 people unhoused and millions more living under the constant threat of eviction.
In the richest country in the world, no one should be burdened with medical debt, student debt, or be struggling to put food on the table.
An economic elite unduly influences our laws, exerting control over many of our politicians. That elite is deeply invested in hiding the truth: that they are hoarding wealth and resources while millions of our nation's children go to bed hungry.
But we see the truth with our own eyes, and we know that we are not constrained by our current reality. We know that a new beginning is possible.

In a couple of weeks I will unveil our 21st Century Economic Bill of Rights in a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. We will share this message with all of you, and talk about how we repair the broken bonds of our society by tending to the material needs of our people. In the richest country in the world, everyone should have the opportunity to thrive and become the fullest version of themselves. As president, that will be my mandate. I am thankful for each of you who have put your faith in this vision and committed to working towards this with me. With gratitude, |
