Dear Sharra, Millions of Americans—Democrats, Republicans and Independents—want to see a new president elected next year. The question is how best to make that happen. People who are passionate supporters of the president will vote for him, and that is their right. People who are passionate opponents of his agenda will vote for the Democrat, and that is their right as well. Those two groups are uncomfortably close in number, however, and the election next year will not be won by either. It will be won by voters in the following categories... The first are people who voted for the president but are at least disturbed—people who might not have expected the level of mean-spiritedness he has displayed. They're now open to something different. The second are people who did not even vote last time, feeling that whichever way they voted it wouldn't really matter. They too are open to something different. The third are people who voted last time for a third party, and are definitely looking for something different. My message, and my campaign, has by far the strongest potential for attracting voters in those categories. Why? Because it IS something different! It flies above the party-laden buzzwords and platitudes that people associate with politics as usual. And it does more than tell the truth: it tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about what is actually happening in this country and what we need to do to change it. The political establishment has a lot of resistance to an outside-the-box candidacy, but an outside-the-box candidacy is exactly what is needed now. For the box itself is toxic. The question is not whether we should go to the left or to the right, but rather whether we will be fresh or stale. People understand this when they hear me speak. They know it when they watch the campaign videos. They know it when they read my policy prescriptions, whether it's for rescuing vulnerable children, addressing poverty on a meaningful enough level to actually change things in the lives of millions, righting historical wrongs, massively mobilizing for climate change reversal, or waging domestic and international peace. They know we're onto something different, and more fresh, and more real. We're not simply recommending incremental change, or healing on the level of symptom but not cause. We're calling for a fundamental disruption of the dysfunctional economic, social and political patterns that dominate American life; and a reversal of Americas bottom line from economic to humanitarian values. We're calling for a politics that is truly 21st century, and worthy of the decency and depth of the American people. Political business as usual is an inadequate response to the task at hand. Donald Trump has ushered in an era of political theater and we will not be going back. The person who can defeat him at the polls is the person who can match his psychological and emotional frequency. And that is me. Who we nominate to run against Donald Trump next year is one of the most consequential decisions that our generation will ever make. But in the words of Abraham Lincoln, "As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew." Nothing is so dangerous now as a proverbial safe choice, and nothing is so grounded in our new reality as reaching for the stars. Please do everything you can to promote, support, and align with this campaign as we turn America in a new direction. So much is at stake. And so much good awaits us all. With gratitude...
