It was a wonderful gathering of women not only from the United States but from all over the world, all of whom were there for one conversation: how to make the world a better place. It is time for a huge paradigm shift as we enter the 21st-century, from an economic to a humanitarian bottom line. No longer should short-term corporate profits take precedence over the well-being of people and planet. With 13 million children food insecure and 100,000 homeless children in the United States, ecosystem collapse a very real possibility over the next 20 years, and a national security agenda more involved with preparing for war than with preparing for peace, we are challenged now to repair and recreate our society. Americans are hardwired for great things, and it is a great task that lies before us. With 74 days to go before the first caucus in Iowa, I am doing everything possible to get this message to the caucus goers there. And everywhere we go, the response is powerful. People are in tears, people give me standing ovations...and we all know why. It's because, deep in our hearts, we know it's time to rise to the occasion as other generations have risen up before us.
