What struck me wasn't the title he held — he didn't have one yet — but the fire he carried for justice, for renters, for immigrants, for working families.   He spoke about politics the way people who've lived the struggle speak: with urgency, with clarity, and deep love for the people who make up our communities. I walked away thinking, This is the next generation of leadership, *if* we can fight against the machine to make it happen.   I saw in Zohran what I've always fought for in The Bronx — justice, jobs, and working people who the system tries to leave behind.
