Current polls reflect Trump with a significant lead Trump over Biden in major battlefield states. While I was always concerned about Trump's sway with voters, reading the recent TIME Magazine interview with the former President has me even more convinced of the critical importance of denying him a return to the White House. |
Trump says that his plans for a second administration include a policy to kick out of the country 11 million undocumented people. Let's be clear that millions of such people are undocumented through no fault of their own, and the vast majority of them are contributors to the U.S. economy. The former President says he might use military or local police to help effectuate his mass deportation plan. Trump also said he would pursue building migrant detention camps and using the U.S. military at the border and inland.
This is from the end of the April 30th interview:
"Whether or not he was kidding about bringing a tyrannical end to our 248-year experiment in democracy, I ask him, Don't you see why many Americans see such talk of dictatorship as contrary to our most cherished principles? Trump says no. Quite the opposite, he insists. 'I think a lot of people like it.'" And there you have it: Trump himself having no problem with a description of himself as a potential dictator. The most important thing we can do right now is to take him at his word.
And that is why we're still out there, doing whatever we can to add to our 400,000 primary votes so far, gaining the leverage to have our voice in the mix and help influence the President's campaign. |
In order to win, the President must offer more to people: the Democrats should stand for universal health care, subsidized child care, guaranteed living wage, guaranteed sick pay, a Department of Peace, a mass mobilization for a just transition from a dirty economy to a clean economy, healthier food supply, and more.
Maryland votes today, and over the next three weeks more primary states where we're on the ballot still have a chance to weigh in. Your continued support is enabling us to support the volunteers who are doing the work on the ground. The energy of our campaign lies in a deeper truth still spoken to the powers that be. |
