Dear Sharra, One of the most unique and important aspects of our campaign is the Whole Health Plan, in which I have an agenda not just to treat sickness but also to foster a healthier society.
As you might remember, at a Democratic debate in 2019 I said that America doesn't have a healthcare system; we have a sickness care system.
To treat sickness we need a single payer Medicare-for-all type program, as they have in every other advanced democracy. What is it that Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom have figured out that we haven't? Nothing, really. We're simply held hostage by the power of the insurance companies, leaving 85 million Americans underinsured or uninsured and 18 million Americans unable to afford the prescriptions that their doctors give them.
Why is it that in the United States we spend more on healthcare yet our system delivers the least results? The problem is not that things are more complicated here. The problem is that our system is corrupt.
And the problem goes deeper than the fact that in the United States one in four Americans live with medical debt. The other, equally significant question, is why do we have so much more chronic illness than they do in other advanced democracies?
To answer that, we have to look not only at insurance companies blocking universal healthcare, or pharmaceutical companies keeping the cost of medicines so high. We also have to look at how Big Food, Big Ag, and chemical companies routinely put their corporate profits over our need for health safety in our food and environment.
From PFAS "forever chemicals" now found in 46 percent of our urban water supply to the environmental toxins in our air, there are myriad factors that contribute to America's weakened health index.
And when I'm president, that's going to change. Please look at my Whole Health Plan in order to understand the details of my health care agenda. You'll see more than a plan to pay for healthcare; you'll see a plan by which America becomes healthier.

| The corporate capture of agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration will end under my administration. Corporate executives from Big Ag will not be influencing my Department of Agriculture. I will return teeth to the agencies meant to advocate for the safety, health and well-being but which too often have been captured by corporate interests.
Experts in nutrition and health will have much greater power in my administration. Experts in regenerative agriculture and organic farming will find an eager ear. Corporate powers will no longer prevail over the health needs of the American people.
Our administration will signal a new beginning in this country, and not a moment too soon. We will begin a journey to a healthier society and a happier one.
So let's keep going, let's keep growing the campaign. So very, very much is at stake. |
