Dear Sharra, I'm very moved by the enthusiasm I encounter on the campaign trail — from New York to New Hampshire to Georgia to South Carolina to Michigan to California to Texas and elsewhere. There's a lot of amazing excitement for our message and I see it everywhere.
We're asking people to claim a new possibility, for themselves and for our country. We're proposing a season of repair and a more socially enlightened future. We can rise from this anxiety ridden chapter in our history and begin again.
It's one thing to have the agenda for that, and we do. From universal healthcare (Medicare for All), tuition free college and tech school, a guaranteed living wage, an Economic Bill of Rights, a Department of Peace, a Department of Children and Youth, ending the Drug War and declaring a Climate Emergency — we've got an incredible platform, and the majority of Americans are open to it. These aren't fringe ideas; they represent what are considered moderate positions in every other advanced democracy, and they should be in ours. They are the elements of fundamental course correction in American politics.
But it will take more than just knowing that, or passively supporting it, in order to bring it about. Especially now - when the institutional resistance to such a message is as strong as it is urgently needed - it takes a quality of heart, and serious conviction, in order to birth a new political reality into the world.
The question becomes, "Am I willing to help make it happen? Am I willing to put my own resources into turning this possibility into reality?" I made that decision for myself quite a while ago, and I'm writing today - as we enter this final chapter of the fundraising quarter - to ask if you will do that with me.
Please give generously of your own resources — whether it's one dollar or up to $6,600 — to contribute to the task at hand. Every day this campaign contributes something meaningful to the conversation, and there is no limit to how far we can go. In fact, we can go all the way to the White House.
Please give what you can to create the changes we know are possible. |

| The standing ovations, the excitement, the people all over the country who are making it clear to me - there is a depth of yearning for a new day in America. But it will not happen if we keep voting in the same old way. We have a short window to make it happen, but we can do it. Please give what you can so that together we can get it done. |
In the words of President John F. Kennedy, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable." Let's have a revolution at the ballot box, so love and justice can carry the day. |
P.S. Time to Rise!
Let's rise up to the challenges of this time and present to ourselves and to our fellow citizens, the opportunity for a genuine alternative, not only to the status quo, but to the chaotic and even dangerous forces that lurk. Should we not do that?
We need to make our month-end and end-of-quarter goals. Please join me right now. |
