Dear Sharra, We unite behind Marianne because we want a president who prioritizes love over hate, and peace over war, and who is in-service of a Humanitarian Bottom Line. While common sense to us—critics and dissenters have called Marianne's platform naive, soft, feminine or unrealistic. Even in 2019, a campaign that leads with (gasp) "feminine" values is mocked and ridiculed. We know that politics, campaigns, and the government are largely male-led institutions. Many Americans do not know that the underlying reason for male dominated government is actually related to who donates. According to this NPR article, and many research studies, it is men who donate to campaigns more often and in greater sums than women. As long as that's the case, attributes associated with men will reign. Good news: The greatest exception—we're proud to highlight—is here in the Williamson campaign. 70% of our donors are women, more than any other 2020 presidential candidate. That's really quite extraordinary and has never happened before in a presidential run. Prior to joining Marianne's digital fundraising team, I ran a financial media company for women. In addition to helping women save and invest with confidence, I encouraged more intention around philanthropy and political contributions. How we invest and donate shapes our public institutions. So, I am overjoyed to work for a campaign that's funded by a majority of women because it means women are STEPPING UP. That's the only way we can achieve balance, sustainability and peace on this planet—when women use our economic power in the same way that men do. Thank you to all of the brave and powerful women and visionary men here using your economic power to build this campaign. Let's bring it home this December to make LOVE the most powerful force in 2020. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately. DONATE MORE ! That's how we will make Marianne's platform real and get her into office. In service, Amanda Steinberg Digital Communications Lead Marianne 2020 |
