Dear Sharra, Dangerous pesticides have been linked to bee declines nationwide. Beekeepers reported losing nearly half of their hives last winter, and over the last twenty years monarch butterflies have declined by 97% in the western United States. Scientists warn we're on the brink of a "catastrophic collapse of nature's ecosystems." This is the kind of news we've all become used to hearing, and we're close to outrage fatigue at this point. Another day, another warning of some looming environmental catastrophe. We're not fighting or fleeing so much now, as we're frozen in a sense of hopelessness and horror. Well snap out of it, baby!
