Dear Sharra, After midnight on Sunday, March 31, all campaigns have to file their first public report on fundraising with the FEC. Many other candidates started with millions of dollars from past campaigns. We started with no money at all, yet with something that other candidates did not have — a passionate base of Americans who recognize that a deeper conversation about where America is now, is the only path to moving our country in the direction we should be going. We've been running against the wind at times, but we are certainly running. It's almost like the more the political establishment tries to pretend I don't exist, the more people see that I do! We haven't had our CNN Town Hall or some of the other media exposure we need, but even that is starting to crack. This morning I was on Alex Witt on MSNBC. Watch interview here. And I am scheduled to be on the Joe Scarborough Morning Joe show on April 4. What matters most is what's happening on the ground. And there, we're rocking it – from New Hampshire to Iowa to Nevada to South Carolina, my meetings with voters are both encouraging and inspiring. Your support and donations have allowed us to build a credible campaign that is growing by the day. Other campaigns are noticing and some of the media are too! It's important that our first public fundraising report show the national media how many of us we are, and that we should be taken very seriously. It is the dollars, and the infrastructure those dollars buy, that show the media and political establishment that our campaign is not to be marginalized and is not to be ignored. Could you please help us send that message and ensure a strong public showing by contributing $15, $25 - or any amount you feel is right - before the deadline tomorrow night? This is our moment to take a stand for something worthy of the times in which we live. In the words of our New Hampshire campaign chairman, former Congressman Paul Hodes, "People come in saying 'Marianne who?' and leave saying 'Marianne, wow!'" People know that I'm saying things others are not saying but that need to be said. About millions of children living in chronic trauma in the US. About our aristocratic economic system and the damage it's doing to our democracy, our people, and our planet. About America's need to pay our moral debts to populations such as ADOS and Native Americans, who are still living at the effect of past mistakes. About America's need to assert moral leadership internationally, and become a genuine force for peace. From state to state, town to town, living room to living room, I'm out there and I'm doing my best. I feel seen and heard, I feel supported, and I feel we're onto something big. Let's make this all it can be and together we will change America. Please give generously before tomorrow night's deadline! With love and thanks, Marianne |
