Sharra, our year-end fundraising deadline is coming up at midnight, and I'm going to personally ask for your support.
First, I need to vent 🤬.
Trust me, we're just as frustrated by the glut of campaigns who're spamming your inbox today and their falsified fever pitch when it comes to fundraising. Those high-pressure emails, text messages, and ads on Facebook, they're all symptoms of what's gone wrong with Washington, and what keeps going wrong.
The days of us are over. Politicians like my opponent, Ritchie Torres, care only about me. Sharra, that's not right. And it's why I'm running for Congress: to make sure every person in our community has a real shot thanks to policies that put working people first.
If you already know the stakes in our race, I'm asking for you to consider pitching in to help us close the gap on our year-end fundraising goal.
These deadlines do matter, playing an enlarged role in shaping the perception of the media, prospective donors, and voters too. In these final hours before our first fundraising deadline, everyone in New York is wondering: Will we have the strength and the resources to topple Ritchie Torres?
We will. We will win this. Thanks to people like you.
This has been a very tough year for people in The Bronx — heck, it's been a tough year for all working Americans, no matter where we live. Far too many of those hardships could have been avoided but for the failed policies and bad politics coming out of Washington. And corporate Democrats in Congress are equally to blame. I'm throwing out their corrupt playbook and we're going to do this the right way, every single day.
To be clear: we're facing the same year-end deadline and pressures as any other Congressional campaign today.
But real leadership, the kind The Bronx is so hungry for right now, demands a level of honesty, integrity, and courage that Ritchie Torres will never understand. So here's my earnest pitch — it's not made up; Or delivered in bigger font; Or bolded red; And no, it's NOT IN Trump's ALL-CAPS:
Running against Ritchie Torres has put our campaign in a pitched battle, up against some of the most extreme special interests in Washington. They're willing to spend millions to ensure Torres remains in power. I don't accept corporate donations or special interest money, and our campaign is powered by the people, hardworking families sending in a few bucks at a time. I'm also never going to demand your support. That's a promise.
I'd like to earn it — whether that's today, or tomorrow, or a month from now. If you're ready to change the game with me before midnight tonight, I'd be grateful if you chip in a donation of whatever makes sense.
And unlike my opponent, whose personal profits (earned off his position) have soared while Bronxites are forced to make do with less and less, I know exactly what a $3 or a $5 donation means to working people —
Your support means more than you know.
In solidarity,
