Happy Pride! My name is Mimi, and I coordinate social media takeovers with groups using our tools so they can share who they are and what they do with this community of small-dollar donors.
Today, we’re celebrating Pride Month with COLAGE, a fantastic nonprofit that supports people who have one or more LGBTQIA+ parent, and we’d love to see you there!
Pride Month was born from the Stonewall Uprising, a series of historic protests against the police raid of the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York, in June 1969. Today, Pride Month is a global celebration and recognition of LGBTQIA+ people. In the U. S., people mark the month by holding picnics, concerts, fundraising and advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, and more.
Centering LGTBQIA+ people and organizations is important all year round, but this month is a special time to lift up their work and commitment to sparking progressive change. It’s also an important moment to recognize and recommit to the fights ahead, especially as LGBTQIA+ people continue to combat hate and harassment.
