You can only defeat big lies with big truth. Dear Sharra, Donald Trump has launched his re-election campaign, and all the other candidates are talking about it. But I don't want to. Not only do I not want to talk about him now, I don't really want to talk about him too much ever. The American people don't need me to tell them who Donald Trump is. What I want to talk about is what America can be. You can't defeat the dog whistles of racism, bigotry and hate; you have to drown them out with the angel voices of mercy, compassion and love. You can only defeat big lies with big truth. I want to talk about rescuing millions of America's chronically traumatized children with a US Department of Children and Youth, and how to make every school in America a palace of learning and culture and the arts. I want to talk about proactively cultivating health in America, not only through treating sickness but by actually cultivating health. I want to talk about reparations for centuries of racial injustice, both toward descendants of slaves and also Native Americans. I want to talk about economic justice for all, throwing off the economic tyranny of trickle-down economics. I want to talk about emotionally and psychologically reconnecting with what it means to be a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people." I want to talk about breaking the chokehold of the military-industrial-complex, not just endlessly preparing for war but proactively waging peace and a US Department of Peace. We don't need to be against Trump, so much as we need to re-envision what's possible without him in the White House. I want to talk about how together we can create an extraordinary 21st Century. And that's the conversation I'm having with Americans every single day out on the campaign trail. But I can't do this without your help.
