Michael Blake is running for Congress because The Bronx deserves better than Ritchie Torres — and we can build it together. Michael's been organizing for justice and opportunity his whole life. That's what he'll fight for in Congress. If you'd like to receive fewer emails, let us know here. | Hey Sharra – thanks for opening this email. I know a lot is going on, so I appreciate it. It's a little long, but it's from the heart, and it's important. A week ago today, Renee Good was assassinated by an ICE agent. MAGA and my opponent think 7 days of outrage is a few too many. I think our collective rage has only just begun, and we will not let the murder of Renee Good go unaccounted for: Abolish ICE. Charge ICE Agent Ross. Impeach DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. If you're ready to stand with me, please chip in whatever feels appropriate now. | If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately. | There are two kinds of time, Sharra: Chronos and Kairos.
Chronos is the clock. It's the news cycle grinding forward, waiting for our grief to dissipate. The ticking sound is replaced by instructions, like, "Be patient," "Lower the temperature," and my least favorite, "Don't politicize it." Chronos buries the story before we bury the dead, demanding stasis, calm, and normalcy. Kairos is the moment. The instant when the divine collides with the human and refuses to let you look away. | On January 7, 2026, at 9:37 AM, ICE Agent Jonathan Ross assassinated Renee Nicole Good, in Minneapolis. | I say this without hesitation because, like the rest of the country, I watched it from multiple angles, in vivid 4K clarity. I did not experience her murder as a headline. It was a charge. An alarm. The government killed Renee Good. Trump's fascism orphaned her three kids. MAGA bigotry and feckless Republican obeisance dropped us in this festering moment. "Don't politicize it." Fuck that. | On May 25, 2020, at 8:28 PM, Officer Derek Chauvin asphyxiated George Floyd, in Minneapolis. | After nine minutes and twenty-nine seconds under the weight of Derek Chauvin's knee, an innocent man was murdered. 1,205 miles away, I was hosting a virtual Mondays with Michael event, in the middle of discussing Ahmaud Arbery's murder, when Minneapolis couldn't breathe. Minnesota is personal for me. I was there in 2008, organizing for then-Senator Obama. I know the people and their heart. They are not committing fraud. They are committed to a future. Like today, I was running for Congress. Like today, I was paralyzed with sorrow and rage. I gathered with sisters and brothers to heed the message of another senseless loss. Through face masks and latex gloves, we wept, prayed, and marched. Our pain was primal. Still is. "Don't politicize it." After every act of American violence. Every mass shooting. Every corpse in the street. As if politics were an abstract game and demanding change in the face of state-sponsored terror were somehow inappropriate. Sharra, let me redefine what it means to politicize a tragedy. It means refusing to let grief sit quietly. Rage with direction. Grief with purpose. When the state kills, politics is the only nonviolent tool we have to stop it from killing again. To not politicize Renee Good's death is to declare her murder natural, inevitable, tolerable. I refuse. | Democrat for Congress, NY-15 | Email is a crucial way that we communicate to Team Blake grassroots supporters like you. Want to change how you receive these emails?
