And there are various forces trying to keep it that way. From both Biden and Kennedy refusing to debate me, to hit pieces that smear my personality and the work I have done for the last forty years, to a mainstream media blackout in obvious response to the DNC's bidding, I feel like Ginger Rogers in relationship to Fred Astaire – having to do everything he did, but backwards! So fundraising is everything, to be honest. The Citizens United decision really did us in, allowing unlimited corporate money to influence our political campaigns. Until we pass a Constitutional amendment to establish public funding for federal campaigns, anyone with less cash on hand will have a hard time staying in the game. The system will not disrupt itself

Dear Sharra,   Our federal budget is a reflection of our national priorities. The question is: Whose priorities? We received a clear answer this week as the Senate voted in favor of an unprecedented $886 billion dollar budget for the Pentagon in 2024 – nearly double the total U.S. military spending at the height of the Iraq war. In fact, the Pentagon is on track to increase spending by 20% in Biden's first three years in office. It took Donald Trump four years to achieve the same. This comes at a time when over 70% of Americans experience chronic economic stress. When one in four Americans live with medical debt and tens of millions live with student loan debt. One third of Americans live on less than $15 an hour and half of them cannot find an affordable place to live. Half our seniors are living on less than $25,000 a year. Where are the policy priorities to address any of these problems? When I am elected, I will work to reduce the economic stress experienced by the majority of our people. From universal healthcare to tuition-free college and tech school to a guaranteed living wage, we will initiate a season of repair. That is the vision behind my 21st Century Economic Bill of Rights, and that will be my mandate as your president. President Roosevelt said that we wouldn't have to worry about a fascist takeover in this country as long as democracy delivered on his promises. Right now it's not, but when I am president, it will.
